Dampers & Flow Regulators

Airflow control is a fundamental element in the design and operation of efficient ventilation, heating, and air conditioning systems. Cairox dampers and flow regulators allow precise control of airflow, ensuring the proper functioning of your installations while optimizing energy consumption.

A complete range for all your needs

Our range of dampers and regulators is available in several categories to meet all technical requirements:

  • Constant Air Volume regulators (CAV): Made of galvanized steel, these self-regulating devices maintain a constant airflow regardless of pressure variations in the network. They operate autonomously without external power supply, with an operating pressure range of 50 to 500 Pa.
  • Variable Air Volume boxes (VAV): Equipped with Belimo actuators, these units allow variable or constant airflow regulation according to needs. They are ideal for adjusting air volumes based on temperature or air quality in a room, with an operating range of 2 to 12 m/s.
  • IRIS diaphragm dampers: These diaphragm-type devices allow both control and measurement of airflow. Equipped with pressure measurement points, they facilitate precise balancing of air duct networks.

Applications and uses

Cairox dampers and flow regulators integrate perfectly into numerous applications:

  • Commercial buildings (offices, retail spaces, hotels)
  • Healthcare and educational facilities
  • Industrial installations
  • Multi-residential buildings
  • Sports halls and leisure centers

They are particularly useful for regulating supply and extract airflows, balancing air duct networks, and adjusting air volumes according to occupancy or specific room requirements.

Technical advantages

Our dampers and flow regulators offer numerous advantages:

  • High regulation accuracy (±10% for CAV, even more precise for VAV)
  • Air tightness class C according to EN1751
  • Simple and quick installation
  • Reduced maintenance
  • Direct airflow measurement capability (IRIS)
  • Silent operation
  • Compatibility with building management systems (VAV)

Compliance with standards

All our products comply with current European standards, particularly EN1751 for air tightness. They also meet the requirements of thermal regulations and contribute to the overall energy efficiency of buildings.

Your Frequently Asked Questions

A CAV regulator automatically maintains a constant airflow regardless of pressure variations in the network, without requiring electrical power. It is set to a fixed value. A VAV regulator allows airflow adjustment according to needs, via an actuator and electronic control. It can operate between two setpoint values or follow an external control signal (temperature, CO2, presence, etc.).

The choice of diameter mainly depends on the required airflow and the desired air velocity in the network. For optimal installation, it is recommended to maintain an air velocity between 3 and 8 m/s in the main ducts. Our technical data sheets indicate the flow ranges for each diameter. Our technical service can help you precisely size your equipment according to your specific constraints.

Our Constant Air Volume (CAV) regulators require a minimum pressure of 50 Pa to function correctly. Their operating range extends from 50 to 500 Pa. Below 50 Pa, regulation accuracy cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore important to ensure that your air duct network maintains this minimum pressure at all points.

Commissioning an IRIS damper is simple: after installation in the network, connect a manometer to the pressure measurement points. Consult the chart provided with the product that indicates the correspondence between the diaphragm position, the measured pressure, and the airflow. Adjust the diaphragm position using the handle until the desired flow is obtained. No specific tools are necessary apart from a differential pressure gauge.

Yes, our VAV regulators equipped with Belimo actuators are perfectly integratable with BMS systems. They have a standard 0-10V or 2-10V interface and can be configured via the Belimo Assistant app or the ZTH service tool. Versions with ModBus or KNX communication protocols are also available upon request for even more advanced integration.

Under normal conditions of use and with regular maintenance (cleaning of pressure taps, checking mechanisms), our dampers and regulators have an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years. The mechanical components are designed to withstand repeated opening/closing cycles. For VAVs, the actuator lifespan is typically 10 years or 100,000 complete cycles.
